I found out that my 4th Great Grandfather and his wife were from this area. I love Ireland. My wife and I honeymooned in Ireland. In addition to all this my wife's great grandmother is from Belfast. The name of my ancestors are Michael "mic" Gleason and his wife's name was Honora McKeogh. If anyone has any information on either family I would appreciate it. Thank you

My ancestors (Herbert) were married into both the Mc Keogh and Gleeson familys. Gleeson is a very common name in North Tipperary. Most of the Mc Keoghs came from the twin town of Ballina/Killaloe in the parish of Templeachely, barrony of Owney and Arra. This town is a few miles from Newport, and the Mc Keoghs still live in Ballina.

Just seen your post. I have written a book which might be helpful.
THE MCKEOGH FAMILY STORY
NORTH TIPPERARY AND BEYOND
BY MARY FITZGERALD
It traces the descendants of the McKeogh men who were living in the parishes of Ballina /Boher, Ballinahinch/Killoscully, and Newport/Birdhill when the 1664/1665 and 1666/1667 Hearth Money Rolls were compiled. It also includes a brief history of their ancestors. The writer is a descendant of both the McKeoghs of Labbadia Ballina and Grawn Ballinahinch.
