My husbands gf was born in Dalkey in 1878 Joseph Patrick Farrell he married Annie Murphy from Bulloch in 1907 and eventually moved to Old Trafford England until his death in the 1950s  Can identify Joe's parents and gparents but not so for Annie who we think was born 29/11/1881 Annie had a sister Mary known as Minnie who was born before 1890 she died in the late 1940s in England

 

any help sought in identifying Annie and Mary's ancesters thanks

    Hello Finola, this was not easy and may not be correct but here I go. I found the church marriage on Ancestry and actually took her fathers name incorrectly but eventually found the civil record, he was a waiter and his father was a blacksmith, her fathers occuppation is not given but from the church record the mother is Kate Murphy and the father is Daniel, all good so far and Annes age is given as 20, The address to me on the churh record appears to be Dundalk for her parents and this is where it goes odd, I searched for Annes birth, do you know how many Anne Murphy's there are, I even had a crush on one when I was a young fella, anyway I could find no Anne Murphy with a father Daniel and Mother Kate. 

    However I found a Mary Murphy and two brothers born to a Daniel Murphy and Kate Stafford in New Ross, Wexford (unfortunatly this is not near Dundalk, 100 miles south or so) I also could not fnd Mary's baptism in the register (register for 1887 not online) as I know from experience my own great grandmother was registerd as Mary only but baptised as Mary Anne so it is possible that the lady baptiesed Mary went by the name Anne but this is conjecture and the registers online do not got to 1887 for New Ross, no idea why not, also this Mary had 2 brothers baptised, a Matthew and a Daniel, Daniel is noted on his baptism as marrying a Mary McGrath. (By the way Murphy is the most common name here in Ireland and is associated with Wexford and Stafford is a name there too so if correct do not expect further research to be easy) Post 1864 it would be easy enough.

    I have used the free site Irish Genealogy for all civil records from 1864 plus the RC registers site, you need dates to go here, and two subscription sites Roots Ireland and Ancestry. I attach the civil record of marriage. https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/ Civil records but not full church records here. https://registers.nli.ie/ Not all registers here and 1887 missing for New Ross.

    The marriage area of Dalky is now a rather up market place to live and in the current shutdown and restricted movement the movie star Matt Damon is living there as he apparently was making a film here or some such in case you are thinking of house buying!!!!

    Sorry I can do no better as at the years involved it should be easy enough.
