Hello!
I have gotten further down the road in my research and am hoping that someone can help point me in the right direction, both with family history and local geographic knowledge.
My family liine stems from the marriage of a Bridget Riordan and Martin Conway. They were married 21FEB1846, Rathkeale. It was witnessed by an (Esther?) Quaid and Patrick Riordan.
They had several children, and I believe I have them all correct:
Martin 1847 Baptized 06JAN1847 Knockaderry S1: Jna. Quaid S2: Patrick Riordan
Mary 1848 Baptized 25FEB1848 Knockaderry S1: Michael Fitzgerald S2: Hanora Conway
Catherine/Kate 1849 Baptized July1849 Knockaderry S1: Joannis (John?) Riordan S2: Margaret Riordan
Hannah/Johanna 1852 Baptized 21AUG1852 Knockaderry S1: Daniel Hastings S2: Hanora Mulcahy
Bridget 1855 Baptized 15MAY1855 Knockaderry S1: John Cregan S2: Maria Histon
John 1857 Baptized 27MAY1857 Knockaderry S1: Daniel Ryan S2: Jna. Ryan
James 1861 Baptized 16NOV1861 Knockaderry S1: John Conway S2: Maria Ryan
The marriage certificate for Martin Conway and Bridget Riordan is fuzzy, but I believe it reads:
21. Married at Fort William By Rev[eren]d D. Synan
Martin Conway of Knockaderry Ho[use] Bridget Riordan
of Fort William Pres[en]t [as witnesses] Esther Quaid & Robert Riordan
I am hoping that someone can shed some light on knockaderry house and fortwilliam, and who their parents were, as I've been unable to find it out on my own. For instance, I can not find parents of Patrick, Margaret and Bridget that are identical. There was a Bridget Riordan Conway widow who married a Daniel Aherne in Newcastle 09FEB1867. That document states that she was born in 1829 and that her father's name is James. That said, I am unsure that she is the same Bridget Riordan as mine.
Any insight would be helpful to where FortWilliam is, and who these parish families were. My goal is to continue my research by finding out who Martin Conway and Bridget Riordan's parents are.
I thank you for any help and advice.
All the best in health and spirit -
