Hello, I am new to this county.

I am attempting to find John H. Ryan (also sister Catherine) whose parents are Michael and Catherine.  He was born Ireland ca 1841  (she ca 1851).   They both settled in a town in Rhode Island where there are literally hundreds of Ryans.  Those Ryans are all from Tipperary, so I assumed mine would be too.  Yet when I do a search in Ireland for a John and Catherine with parents Michael and Catherine, I come up empty.  Those are the only two siblings I have found, although I suspect there may be more, given how many Ryans there are in this town.  If I could find the family in Ireland, I could trace the siblings back. I would welcome any ideas or suggestions from you experts.

    Can I ask what data bases you are searching?  I looked on Roots Ireland and I see John Ryan baptismal records in Tipperary with parents Michael and Catherine and also Catherine Ryan baptismal records with parents Michael and Catherine. I did not do a matchup of the records to see if there were two with the same mothers names yet. Roots Ireland also does not have records for a number of parishes in the Diocese of Cashel and Emly and for those records you have to use another subscription site e.g. FindMyPast or Ancestry.

    I did use Roots Ireland to find the individual matches and then I continued to try a match up between the two siblings, and that's where I came up empty.  Would you recommend that I use FindMyPast now?

    Yes, either FMP orAncestry in order to cover the parishes missing from Roots Ireland. They are primarily in the south of Tipperary.

    I forgot to add that your searches will also pick up the same records that you found on Roots Ireland. The FMP/Ancestry records were built from digitizing the records from the NLI parish registers.
