I have a DNA link with a Maloney family (siblings Catherine and Patrick) who were living in Clogher Upper (Kiltullagh Parish, Co Rosc) in 1857.  The family was not there in 1832 (Tithes).  I think they may have come from Templetogher Parish (Co Galway) which Clogher Upper borders on.  There were several Mullowney families living in Templetogher Parish in 1832.  I am focusing on Cloomnagohhaura (John Mullowny) but it could be a different townland. (Other Mullowney family 1st names that I'm aware of are Thomas, James, Mary, Annie, Michael and Alice.)

I am looking for a link with a Tully family (my ancestral name).  This could have been a marriage between a Tully and a Mullowney, perhaps in the 1st half of the 1800s.  There were Tullys living in Cloomnagohhaura and in other townlands in Templetogher Parish. (MyTully family first names: Owen, Patrick, Michael, Ellen, Catherine, Bridget, Ann.)

I realize that there is a shortage of records during this period.  I'm hoping that someone might have some knowledge of this Mullowney/Tully relationship from their own records or searching.

    Thanks for your message. I had a look at the available marriage records for the area.

    There is a record for Edward Tully and Bridget Molowny, who were married in Tuam parish on 8 October 1839; witnesses were Denis Nocton and Catherine Healy. A child of this couple was baptised in Lackagh parish in 1844, sponsors John and Anne Tully.

    This may not be relevant but thought I'd pass it on just in case. Didn't find anything of relevance directly in the parishes you mentioned. Hopefully someone with further knowledge of the family might see your post and offer some information.

    Thank you very much for looking that up for me.  I don't know where to go with that information but I will keep it in mind.  There are no Edwards in my Tully family that I know of.  I have seen the name Healy in Killtulagh C.P. though.

    There is something else that you might know the answer to.  I have heard that Templetogher Parish (which is now in Co. Galway) was at one time a part of Co. Roscommon.  Would you know anything about when Templetogher Parish was part of Co. Roscommon?  I am wondering because the story is that my Tullys came from Co. Roscommon. 

    Also, I found out, after I wrote the last message, that there may be a connection to a Greene family of Killtullagh parish.  If you have time, could you please check for any connections between Green + Tully or Greene + Mullowney?  Also likely to be in the 1st half of the 1800s. 

    I should perhaps add that my Tullys moved from Co Rosc to Co Mayo, probably in the 1840s.  I'm working on the idea that they came from Killtullagh parish (maybe in Clogher Upper area).  They settled in a townland near Tulrahan, Annagh parish, Co Mayo.  It seems there was a lot of movement back and forth between these 2 areas as I've seen from some marriages during that time period.
