Hello I have been looking for a Baptism for my Great Grandmother Bridget Griffin who married James Higgins in Kilmovee RC Church County Mayo in February 1857. She was in Uggool in 1901 and 1911. As I had found an O'Donnell from Uggool had been baptised at Bogtaduff, County Roscommon I decided to look for Bridget in Roscommon. Yesterday I found a Bridget Griffin baptised on 30 September 1839 at St Peter's Church Athlone & Drum, County Roscommon. Her father is Patrick Griffin and mother Catherine Benin. Witnesses Stephen Fallon and Bridget Doyle. Also interesting is the next entry on 30 September 1839 of a Michael to a James ? (I can't read the surname but ends in either ligan, higan or tigan) and Anne Fallon. Witnesses Patrick Griffin and Mary Higgins. This record is on NLI. Could this be my Bridget Griffin. I have death records for Patrick & Catherine Griffin from Uggool, Kilmovee. Thanks Pat Berry

    The RC baptismal records for Kilmovee parish start in June 1854.https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0137

    Is it possible that she was baptized in Kilmovee and the records no longer exist?

    Sorry to take so long to reply. I found the surname of James above to be Hartigan but That name means nothing to me.

    Bridget probably was baptised in Mayo somewhere,

    I haven't looked any further for her as I got sidetracked with my HIGGINS.

    I have a large DNA Match to a Patrick Farrell on My Heritage. He has Winifred Higgins marrying a Patrick Kelly and their daughter Winifred Kelly born on the same year as her mother 1902?

    So I decided to track that tree back and found that Winifred Higgins was the daughter of John Higgins and either Bridget Early or Bridget Parlow. They were living in Derry, Artagh North, County Roscommon. John Higgins died on 27 May 1920 at Derry, Roscommon aged 90 yrs.

    Winifred Kelly went to Chicago, Illinois, USA and married Patrick Farrell from County Kilkenny.

    I have found that I am also connected to a Michael Higgins and Winifred Flanagan from Glan, County Mayo. Their daughter married a Dominic Mannion in 1919. I have another connection to Thomas Higgins from Tawnyna, County Mayo. His daughter Mary married a Michael Brennan.in 1896 at Kilbeagh.

    I am hoping these 3 Higgins's are my G Grandfather James Higgins's brothers.

    I have a small match to you as well but think that may be DUFFY.
