Michael & Norry Ryan lived in the Townland of Pollagh up to 1844 according to Parish birth records. They were not there in 1848 Griffith's Valuation. There are numerous Ryans in the neighbouring Townland of Garryteige in that valuation & Norry Ryan & Michael Ryan in Garryteige in the tithe applotment book 1827/1833.
Any information, hints or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
There is a connection with Ryans in Coolready Townland in Limerick, most of the children of both families migrated to the Central Goldfield area of Victoria Australia in the 1850's & '60's

Hi Graeme,
Just trying to help pinpoint your Ryans.
Does Shoalhaven ring any bells, I see it's in NSW.
Can you state the Childrens names that went to Australia please.
Central Goldfield, sorry to be a bit thick but is Bendigo part of that area?
Thanks

Good afternoon Margot,
Shoalhaven is on the coast about 200km south of Sydney.
There were 4 children of Michael & Norry Ryan who came to Victoria - Patrick,Michael ,John & Mary..All came to the Creswick area which is about 20 km north of Ballarat and 120km west of Melbourne.
There were three children of Patrick & Catherine Ryan of Coolready who also migrated,Catherine,Elizabeth & Margaret;a son Michael also migrated but returned to Ireland in 1862 & according to my research probably returned to Coolready, married Mary Connell & they had 9 children. The 1901 census showed Michael,Mary & 3 of the children still there.
The plot thickens in Aus.! Patrick married Elizabeth & his brother Michael married Catherine aka Bridget.I am a direct descendant of Michael & Catherine.
The Central Goldfield area stretches from Ballarat to Maryborough in the North & across to Bendigo there were many mines & many miners,it was one of the most productive goldfields in the world.
Cheers, Graeme R

Hi, I thought the ones I found were your Ryans, but sadly not.
Sorry,
Margot
