I am looking for more information about my maternal grandmother's family. Her grandfather's name was John Danaher. He was married to Hanora Power. They had one known son James Danaher, who was born in 1843 in Limerick. By the 1870s James was living in the United States in the state of Iowa. He had two sons by a first wife (unknown) who died around 1873 in Iowa. James subsequently married Anna Breen, born 9/3/1851 in Cork, Ireland. They were married in Manhattan, New York., moved to Iowa, and later Nebraska, My grandmother was their youngest daughter.

Hi Mary G,
Griffith's Land Valuations taken c1848/50 has a record of five "John Danaher". Two are recorded in Park, Civil Parish of St. Partrick, one in Coolooney or Westland Street in the Civil parish of St. Michael, One in the area of Glin in West Limerick in the Civil Parish of Dunmoylan and one in the area of Newcastle West in the Civil Parish of Mahoonagh. Those two are farmers. The occupation of the first three is not stated.
There is a record of a John, Bridget and James Danaher in Redgate, Limerick City suburb in 1869.
You can access the land and house valuations at www.askaboutireland.ie - Griffith's Valuations
A check of www.rootsireland.ie for the marriage of John and Honora or the baptism of James in1843 did not show any result.
