Hello
I have two families in St Mary's/Clonmel, the Ryans and the Keatings. I have their births and all their siblings. But then when I find the marriage that I need, of Michael Ryan and Catherine Keating, it is in Newcastle and Fourmilewater. I think it's the right couple. Right names, right dates. Why would it be there? I see that they are neigboring parishes. Is that where the closest church is?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Hello Barbara!
The marriage would have been in the bride's parish. However, if Catherine Keating was employed away from her family as a servant or in some other profession and Newcastle was the closest church to where she was living then she may have opted to be married there rather then St. Mary's Clonmel. We can only speculate since this was an 1835 marriage.
