I am looking for my G. Grandmothers family who were called LEAMY or LEAMEY. They lived just outside of Clonmel but around 1895 moved to Clonmel.
MICHAEL LEAMY married BRIDGET DELAHUNTY and they had ELLEN LEAMY, my G. Grandmother in 1878. Also MARY ANN LEAMY in 1874 who emigrated to London.
They also had MICHAEL, THOMAS and JEREMIAH LEAMY ( born 1868 - 1872) My G. Uncles I cannot find information on although I have researched for a long time. Thomas I found a record for a death in 1905 but not sure if it is the Thomas I am looking for. I wonder if they were sent to prison and then sent to Australia or Canada where they remained.
Hoping for some help.
Thank you,
Lynda

Lynda:
Some information on your family. Looks like they moved to Clonmel between 1867 and 1869.

could a respelling help : it has taken me 8 months to find "supposedly" missing relatives > My first problem was that they simply vanished after leaving Mullingar ( Leavy's) or Clonmel Lawless ' . Upon arrival in London the amount of mispronounced ultimately misspelt words caused no end of problems in my searches .
Gilravey has become kilravey , Leavy has become Levy , leavey , levi and various connotations sometwhere in between .
At least Lawless is not too hard to mess up . Found some arrivals in Ellis island that had wrong birth dates recorded because my ancestors had little to no schooling , causing further problems . Plus , the other search company needs two subscriptions if i wish to further my search into the states or Canada .
I had the US membership for a month ,,,I then discovered three of the same name and missmatched birth dates , so i became frustrated and gave up ....
i am going to restart the search during the partial lockdown as an exercise in patience ...so i wish you all the best in your search ( I will add your search to mine , , should i return to the other non UK sites ...) noticing that my search for Leavy may cross into searches for yours as a misspelling i had not anticipated until i saw your post

Hello Kenneth
Yes you are right about the misspellings. My Mary Ann Leamy married, but as far as I know never had any children. They lived in Bermondsey, London. Thank you for your reply. LyndaLyndaCarroll
