Hi Just wondering how do I go about looking up the boat the 4 McManus brothers took to New York attached to this document?..I am able to trace three out of the four McManus brothers (Eddie, Thomas and Edward) who emigrated to New york..from Patrick McManus's Naturalisation papers the boys came into the country on 4th May 1884 and its most likey they went to Flatbush to see thier uncle in law Kieran Hines and aunt Catherine Henahan (born March 14th 1820). The sponsor for Patrick McManus was Kieran Hines for his Naturalisation on 5th July 1894...I know Thomas died at the age of 45 from TB. However William is a mystery..I woud love to learn more about him... Any tips?

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Very interesting story about your McManus family.
I'm not aware of records of ships leaving Ireland at that time. They would have come into Castle Garden. I assume you have checked Ancestry.com or Family Search to see if you can find them coming to America in 1884? What about US census records e.g. 1900? I believe New York State also had census records in 1895.

Dear Maire,
As Roger said, I assume it would be Castle Garden records but my understanding it the earlier years recorded less information than the later Ellis Island records.
This site might be worth checking out.
It is www.stevemorse.org
It facilitates access to Ellis Island records and also to Castle Garden
records.
