Hello!
I'm searching for my Mooney ancestors or any help on how/where to look further. Before moving to the United States they lived in Drumavaddy, Redhills County Cavan. T
Here are my current names in my Mooney paternal line. This is as far back as I can go since it looks like James Mooney was the first Mooney to live and farm in that county.
John Francis Mooney - Married Mary Ellen Harte in Philadelphia PA USA
1876–1944
Bernard Mooney -- Married Bridget Hueston (or Hewitson, Haniton, seen spelled all three ways)
1837–1921
James Mooney Married Susan, unknown maiden name.
1808–1890

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Records for your Mooney family are limited. I found the baptismal record and civil birth record for John. He was actually born in 1873. I also found birth records for two brothers James and Bernard. See links below. I did not find the parents marriage record.
James Mooney is shown in the 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing as living in Drumavaddy townland in Annah civil parish.
I did not find Bernard's baptismal record in 1837 so my conclusion is that the Mooneys moved into Annagh parish sometime between 1837-1855.

Hello Victoria, my ancestors were Bernard Mooney and Bridget Mooney (Hueston).
If this helps I know that the Mooney's were in Redhills at least as far back as 1825 from the Tithe Applotment Books 1823-37. It says on the record that there was a Bernard Mooney living in the town land of Glassdrumman, Redhills, Parush of Annagh in Cavan 1825 and a James Mooney living in the town land of Killoughter in the parish of Annagh aswel. My gues is that they were brothers maybe and related closely since these two town lands are located right beside each other. I also have a brief family tree but from 1825 till present if you are at all interested, I also have a biography of John Francis Mooney, who arrived in America in 1896 and if you want my relative from England has lots of info on all the Mooney's from the 1901 and 1911 Irish census', she is also the person who gave me the biography of John F Mooney.T_mooney
