  • KP,

Welcome to IrelandXO.  I'm sorry about not getting in touch sooner, but I've been away for the past number of days.  I'm a volunteer in Roscrea with IrelandXO.  I found Judy & Martin's church marriage certificate here https://registers.nli.ie/pages/vtls000634780_048 - you can download the page for free.. Unfortunately, the Baptism Register only goes back to 1845 (https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0806), so unless there's another source, it won't be possible to find her own or her siblings' baptisms.  I'll see what I can find out about the Whelans subsequent to the marriage and get back to you.

    Hi Dick

    Appreciate you help thank you.

I have discovered now that Judith Doherty parents were Thomas and Mary (formerly Deane) Doherty from Cournaganeen (Bourney) and they are buried in Timoney.  I was at the graveyard there last Monday and I believe I found their head stone. It was  difficult to read and badly damaged so I have emailed the local parish to see if I can make contact with relatives as I would like to repair or replace the headstone. I believe from speaking to locals that a relative may be Malachi Doherty who is involved near Roscrea in Turf cutting.I am going back there in a few weeks.
In relation to Martin Whelan I discovered he lived at Ross in Rathdowney and I found his children's births. I am continuing to work on this as I am very interested in this area.

Any help would be very much appreciated

    regards

    Kevin

I'm delighted that you got some information and that you were able to visit the gravesite.  I'll see what I can locate on any of the names you have given and get back to you.
