6/7/17: This is an old letter I used to use back in the 80s. ________________
Dear ___________________. I am conducting family research, and would appreciate it if you would take the time to read the below, and see if there may be any connections to you family. Have a great New Year 2008.
Birth, death, and burial information of my great great grandparents Frank (Francis) and Honor (Quinn) Grady, married 19 April 1829, Park Na bPreasc. Sponsors were John Barrett, and Peggy Wright. The Quinn's possibly living in the area of Cloghnarart alias Branchfield (Kilmorgan), Frank in the Lugdoon, Templeboy area during the same time frame of 1829 and up to about 1855. I have no further information on them.
Tracing Frank and Honor (Quinn) Grady's whereabouts takes me to 1829 Park Na Bpreen, 1836 Leaffony, 1842 Clooncanny, 1852 Rookfield, 1855 Leaffony, Easky, Owenbeg, Cabra, Rathlee, Kilglass, County Sligo.
Frank and Honor Quinn Grady born 5 children: Michael, Feb/Mar 1836 Biddy, May/June 1838, Mary, Sep/Oct 1842, James, Apr/May 1852 (My Great Grandfath, Jennie 1877), and William, 1855. I have no information on any of them except my Great Grandfather, James, and his wife Bridget (Brislane) (sic)) Grady. Bridget did have a sister Maria Brislane.
Family, death, and burial information on my great grandfather, James Grady, born 1852 to Frank (Francis) and Honor (Quinn) Grady. James was married to Bridget (Brislane) Grady, she passing away 4/6/1899 in Kilglass. James (Jacobus) Grady died 22 March 1935, Interred Kilglass 24 March 1935, residence Leaffony (This information from Church of Kilglass records. However, no cemetery information). Parents Franciscus (Fracis/Frank) Grady, and Honoria Quin. James shows on the 1901 Census with his son Michael, Leaffony. I have no further information on James and Bridget's resting place although I believe it to be in the Kilglass area as they were parish members of the RC Church of Kilglass.
James and Bridget born six children: Honoria, 12/13/1872 Cabra, Rathlee, sponsors Church of Kilglass Peter Lavelle, and Maria Breslin/Brislane/Beglane. I have no further information on Honoria.
Maria (Mary), 5/27/1874, Leaffony, Rathlee, sponsors at Church of Kilglass were Joanna (Jane) Dowd (Ana Dowd had a sister, or cousin named Maria) and Fr. McHale. Maria relocated to Philadelphia, married a James Leonard, and died 4/14/1919.
Francis, 9/13/1875, Leaffony, sponsors at Church of Kilglass were Matilda Bourn, and Father Irwin. Francis, according to Church of Kilglass records married Mary Neary, daughter of Luke and Sarah Gilmartin/Helmartin (speculation on surname), (Ballina) 1/7/1899. On their marriage certificate Francis is listed as an Army pensioner, and Mary as a servant. (I have Francis’ military information)
Speculation here: There is a possibility Francis and Mary had a daughter who married a STENSON in Kilglass, Sligo area with the daughter of Francis and Mary (Mary Jane) dying before the (Joseph) STENSON gentleman who was in his 80's during the mid 1980's. I have no death or burial information on Francis and Mary, nor name of alleged daughter, marriage information, or death information either, or on STENSON. I have all this now except where Mary Grady was buried, and her DOD.
Joanna (Jennie/Jane) my grandmother, 12/30/1877, Leaffony, sponsors were Thomas and Nancy Ann Goulden Church of Kilglass. Joanna relocated to Philadelphia, married Dennis Murphy, and subsequently died 2/25/1924.
Michael, 8/22/1879, sponsors at Church of Kilglass were Mathew Brennan and Catherine Ryan. Michael relocated to Philadelphia via Ship Lusitania 1909, married Catherine Kennedy, and died 1956 Westville, NJ.
James, 1881, relocated to Philadelphia subsequent to 1899 from Sligo, married Lizzie (Elizabeth) Vizard, died 1830's or 40's Philadelphia.
Bridget, 11/23/1882, relocated Philadelphia, never married, died 10/15/1918.
Anne, 4/5/1886, Leaffony, died 7/1/1889 from whooping cough. I have no burial information on Anne.
I am also looking for information on what RC Churches may be in the areas of Kilmorgan, Kilcreevin (Phibbs) Town, and Templeboy and Ballyeeskeen which may hold information on Frank (Francis) and Honor (Quinn) Grady from 1829 through maybe 1855.
I am also trying to find out what Army Francis Grady served in as per his marriage certificate information in 1899. (I now have this)
Thank you for your assistance, and response at your earliest convenience. Mike Murphy

Mike:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Can you clarify if you are expecting a response? The heading shows June 7th, 2017 and this is a letter I used back in the 80s. We have very few volunteer in Co. Sligo and none in Kilglass parish.
I did see that Roots Ireland had the baptismal records for the five children of Frank Grady and Honor Quinn all in Kilglass RC parish. Not sure why there was a ten year gap between 1842 and 1852.
Thanks!
