I hope I haven't posted this twice.

I am hoping for infromation on my gg Grandfather Philip Ronan. Philip was born c 1835 and lived in Clonrush, Galway (now in Clare). His parents were Patrick Ronan and Bridget Hennessey. Philip emmigrated to Australia in 1856. His sister Mary paid for his passage to Australia and he left Plymouth, England on the ship 'Kate'. The shipping records state that his parents Patrick and Bridget were deceased, Philip was a Roman Catholic and he could read and write. There is a possibility that he attended Lakyle School in Whitegate. He married Mary Sweeney at St Mary's Cathedral, Sydney in 1862 and they went on to have 9 children. Philip died in 1924 and was buried at Waverley Cemetery, Sydney. Philip had cousins who also emmigrated to Australia, Michael and Margaret Ryan (who's parents were Margaret Ronan and Michael Ryan). Margaret married an O'Brien and Micheal died unmarried (his death cert states he was a digger which makes me assume he came to Australia to dig for gold).
