Hello Out There!

I am new to Irelandxo and, while I know that some of my ancestors are from Donegal, I have no idea what part of Donegal.  I believe they were salmon fishermen so I presume they lived on the coastline - or perhaps on a river.  Any suggestions on how I might proceed would be most helpful.  The family name is FISHER.  Thank you.

    Can you provide us with the names of your Fisher ancestors and their approximate year of birth. I checked the 1901 census and there were 26 Fisher families in Co. Donegal.

    Frank (Francis) Fisher was born in 1844 or 1845.  He emigrated to the US in 1863 and wound up in Peru, Marion County, IN.  Not sure how!    His parents might be Edward Fisher and Mabel Ward.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

    We didn't ask you for the religious denomination of the Fisher family. Almost all of the RC parishes in Donegal do not have records back to 1844. I searched on the subscripttion site Roots Ireland and the only Francis Fisher baptismal record is below. This Francis was Presbyterian. I also search for any children of an Edward Fisher and a mother with a maiden name of Ward but got no record.

    The 1857 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing had twenty Fisher records but no Edward which might be because of being a fisherman.

    I found one Edward Fisher death record between 1864-1900 https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1887/06205/4774862.pdf

    I did not find a Mabel Fisher death record.

    Thank you.  This Edward Fisher death notice is of great interest.  The date works.  The son's name (Patrick) works.  I will share this info with a cousin who is more knowledgeable than I.  Appreciate your help!
