A few hints on the years would help.
Your fathers year of birth and month will help and was he the eldest or the youngest.

Depends on the years as to where to look.
House numbers in census returns, they are numbered, but not on most of the doors, it just I dentified the house.
There wasn't any Teehan in James Green in 1901.
In 1911 a John Kennedy lived at number 23.

My father was born on the 19th of August 1906. He was the 5th of 7 children born to Michael and Mary Teehan(nee Gibbons).

The Irish census of 1911 shows the whole family - parents and 7 children lived in James Green. I visited there in 1965 when my aunt Tess McGowan was there at 23 James Green with her 2 children. She said the family lived there since early 1900's, as did my Uncle Peter who was born the year after my father. Before her mother Mary's death, Tess lived with her at number 23. My uncle Bill (William) moved back to number 23 when he returned from the US. After Tess died, I don't know who is living in the house.

I have found discrepancies in other records as to my father's date of birth including the Immigration records of our family coming to Australia.

My Father's family were living in Kilkenny at the time of his birth and where he was born. His parents were not living at  Black Hill as listed on the birth information in the above civil records link. I have found several records for an Edward Teehan with a father named Michael but these were not my family. 

At the time of the 1911 Census, my Father was 5 years of age. Had he been born in 1905, he would have been 6.

He died in 1961, aged 55 - 2 months prior to his 56th birthday.  

We emigrated to Australia on the TSS Cameronia - her last voyage, in 1951. I was 5 years old at that time and my Father was 45. I have found many discrepancies in relation to my family, including Emigration records, particularly in relation to birth dates and family members.

On a marriage certificate from England where my parents were married, the name Teehan is also spelt Tee- Han with the same marriage dates and details. How this happened is anyone's guess.

James Hoyne was indeed paralysed - he was my Grandfather's brother in law. I do not know how many siblings my Grandfather had so possibly James Hoyne  was married to a sister of Grandfathers.

Regarding your  Posts,  Michael Teehan's first wife was "Ellen Hoyne".  There is a record in the parish of Tullaroan, Co. Kilkenny for a baptism of a Michael Teehan.

Father recorded as "James and mother as "Bridget  Maher. There are a number of siblings from 1849 onwards.

There is a marriage record for a "James Teehan" and "Bridget Maher" for 1848.  Address: Gurtnagap, Co. Kilkenny.

I will try and put some detail into this over the next week.

The marriage record for Michael Teehan and Ellen Hoyne in 1890 records Ellen's father as "Martin" and a carpenter by occupation.

To clarify previous post, Michael Teehan married Ellen Hoyne in Kilkenny on August 18th 1890. His address is recorded as "Flood Street". Ellen is recorded as "James Green". Michael's father is recorded as a Farmer. His address is not shown. 

Attached record from Tithe Records of 1833 shows a number of "Teehan's" in Gurtnap. Official record "Gortnagap which is approx. 5 miles West of Kilkenny City.

Patrick -  Birth September 12th 1903. Baptism September 13th 1903. Sponsors: William Hogan and Josephine Moore

Above are recorded as "Blackmill Street"

Peter - Birth February 9th 1907. Baptism February 10th 1907. Sponsors: James Teehan and Elizabeth Ryan. He is recorded for New Park

Richard - Birth July 23rd 1908. Baptism: July 26th 1908. Sponsors: Michael Costigan and Margaret McGrath

Above recorded as "James Green". Note on baptismal Register: Married 28-6-1936 to K. Roache, St. Patrick's, Drumcondra (Dublin)

What a wonderful source of information you are. Is your surname McCoy? I initially received a post with that name but no Christian name.

We lived in Romford, Essex prior to emigrating to Australia.

Some of the birth dates you provided for my Father's siblings, differ from those I got from other sources. I can understand why my Father has "2 birth years". I find hand written notes online can be difficult to read, particularly when the documents have faded.

I really appreciate the efforts you are putting into helping me find my family and past. I am looking forward to getting back to Ireland when this virus is under control and visiting some of the places my family came from. I don't know where you live but perhaps we could meet so I can thank you in person.

In relation to the first marriage of Michael Teehan to Ellen Hoyne, the following are details of the children born: Address: Black Mill Street

James - Birth January 18th 1891. Baptism: January 19th 1891. Sponsors: Patrick Kavanagh and Mary Whyte - St. Canice's R.C Church

John & Bridget - Twins - Baptism: March 3rd 1893 - Sponsors: Robert Martin and Bridget Ryan - Simon Costello and Kate Whyte (John died at 1 month and Bridget at 5 months - Civil Record)

William & Mary - Twins - Baptism: June 10th 1894 - Sponsors: William White and Mary Barry -  John Dowling and Elizabeth Dunphy (William died at 14 days and Mary at 15 days - Civil Record)

Ellen died November 4th 1894, aged 30 years. Her death was notified by her husband Michael Teehan

I did not find any record for "James", other than his baptism. He is not recorded in the 1911 census for the address of his father. In the parish record he is recorded as "Tehan".

Note: You should apply to the Civil Registration Office, Kilkenny for birth dates of your father's siblings. They cost 4 Euro each and they accept credit cards.

Regarding Mary Gibbons

Possible identity: Parents: Patrick Gibbons and Mary Dolan, Curdarragh (Cordarragh), Aughagower, Westport, Co. Mayo who were married in Westport by the Rev. P. Moore on August 4th 1864 at the request of the then parish priest of Aughagower. Witnesses: Festy John Scahill and Catherine Burke.

A Mary Gibbons was baptised in this parish on September 24th 1865. Parents shown as "Patrick Gibbons and Mary Gibbons Curdarragh.

Sponsors: Richard Gibbons and Mary Judge

No further found for this couple in Cordarragh

Regarding your aunt - Mary Teehan - it appears that she married a Patrick Hogan of Thomas Street, Kilkenny on February 9th 1920.

You will need to apply for the official record to get detailed information in relation to Patrick.
