Noble/Irvine

Jane,

Tradition was to marry in the bride’s church, after which she’d normally attend her husband’s. There is a marriage in Tubrid Church of Ireland on 10th June 1832 but this transcription says it was between Christopher Noble (not John) and Rebecca Irvine.

The marriage record indicates that Christopher lived in the parish of Drumkeeran (Kesh is in Magherculmoney parish). So Jane's 1834 baptism (and that of any siblings) may be in Drumkeeran’s records. They start in 1801 but I don’t think they are on-line anywhere yet. There is a copy in PRONI (the public record office) in Belfast.

Drumkeeran is the next parish to the north of Magheraculmoney. See map:

Griffiths Valuation for 1862 lists 1 Christopher Noble in Drumkeeran. He had plot 8c in Corlave. That was a labourer’s cottage on John Boyd’s farm. (On the modern Formil Rd between Letterkeen and Rockstown). There was a William Noble living nearby on 7b, another labourer’s cottage. Perhaps a relation. Christopher was deleted from those records in 1869.  I don’t see death records for him or Rebecca. Did they emigrate?

Yes, Christopher and Rebecca immigrated to Quebec Canada where they later had a son John in 1843. He was born in Kinsey,Quebec Canada. I have found some documentation that there may have been a daughter born two years prior to Jane Noble but I do not find any mention of her in any of the census information I have gathered in Canada . I do not know her name. Jane was born in 1834. I find Christopher and Rebecca  on the Canada censuses starting in 1851. I assume christopher died between 1861-1871 as I no longer find him listed and Rebecca is listed as a widow living with her son John Noble.

Sounds as though the Christopher Noble in Corlave must be a different person. However it’s an unusual forename so he might be a relation. (Families tended to use the same names). Your family maybe came from somewhere near by.
