My great x 5 grandfather was a Daniel ( or possibly Patrick) McCormick, born about 1760 in County Monaghan, he married Mary McCabe and had at least three children, Peter ( my line), Daniel and Joseph. His son Peter ( born about 1794) went to Scotland and married Margaret McFadzean in 1822. He died in Ayrshire, Scotland in 1861. I have recently had a DNA match to descendants of Hugh McCormick born in County Monaghan about 1800 and who married Dorothy Darby in Rhode Island in 1833. I am not sure how Hugh connects to my McCormicks. If anyone had any information on my McCormicks, I would be so very grateful. Thanks in advance Sue Christie

Hi Sue,
All the records that I have looked at for Hugh McCormick, record that he was born in Ireland, no further details of where and to whom were located, so you may need to contact your DNA match and ask about them about the "source" of their information and anything else that they might be willing to part with. Better luck on the Darby side as Dorothy Darby's father Thomas Darby said that he was from Carrickatee, County Monaghan in his Petition for Naturalization. So, there is a little bit here for you to go on with your research.
