Hello to all interested in County Longford! My great-grandmother Maria Dunn Harris was born in Co Longford June 1, 1830 to James and Elizabeth (unknown maiden name) Dunn. I do not know where specifically she was born. Elizabeth died when Maria was born. James took Maria to the United States when she was three months old, settling in either New York State or New Jersey. When Maria was 7 years old, they travelled to Michigan where they lived until they died. James was born in Philipstown, Co Offaly (formerly King's) in 1800. I know nothing of his parents or siblings. If anyone knows anything about my Dunn family, I'd appreciate the information.

Strong possibility that James Dunn was in the army. Longford was a garrison town with a substantial military presence from 1700 to 1922
