Looking for Patrick McNulty , Denis and Owen (sons) Ballyrush Monaghan

Hello Christine, the reason you can find no records is that Inishkeen parish records do not commence until 1836 so there are no RC recrods for that parish available at this time. I looked at the Tithe Applottments which was a tax on land between 1824 and 1838 and see the information below, not Ballyrush and odd spelling or transcription, you can see all 750 people paying the tax in Innishkeen (the site does not appear to do variant spellings) http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp

I am not clear on who married Anne McKenna and when and where or approximate years etc, could find no birth for Anne Carolan either but again no dates but searched 1810 to 1860 in Louth. There is a site on Louth here for information only.

I know these McNultys are difficult to locate.  I dont have any record of them from Ireland, just info from documents out here.

Patrick is the key person to locate. On his death certificate, it said his wife was Jean McKenna.  He has 2 possible birth dates. his death certificate said he was 99 in 1988, but on his ship passage list, it said he was 45 in 1864, (which I tend to believe), making his birth date 1819. His son Denis' birthdate was 1836 (cal from his death certificate), which makes Patrick  17 at his birth? which is possible. And son Owen was listed as 14 on the Ship, but his name was crossed out, so not sure if he died or didnt board the ship.

 There were mentions of Mckennas in the tithe records, all of whom seem to have had substantial holdings.

The same McKennas seem to appear a lot, and as they are in the same area as the McNultys, it could be Jean came from one of these families. I wondered whether it would be worth pursuing the McNultys as possible relations to Patrick.  If you know a way that would be great.  I can have a go through Ancestry.

Also there was one lot of McNultys on the flax growers list  for Donegal. I know it is a long shot, but I think they must have at some time come from the land of the McNultys on the west of Ireland. There were family names Denis ( Raphoe) Hugh (Taughboyne) Patrick and and Owen ( Inishmacsaint).

I feel like this moves things along a bit, particularly the proximity of the Mckennas to the McNultys in the tithe records.

Like so many families from this area, the McNalty's from the townlands that you have listed from the Tithe Applotment Books went to the United States, thats why they don't appear on Griffith's Valuation.  You can check that for yourself on your Ancestry website.

Also worth noting that the information recorded on any certificate is only as accurate as the knowledge of the informant, i.e., the person who provided the details at the time of registration.  It is not uncommon to find that details on certificates can be incorrect, or even details recorded as unknown, depending upon how well the informant knew the person in question.

I am trying to find any family of Patrick McNulty, brothers parents etc., or his spouse Ann McKenna's family.

I couldnt link any of the above to Patrick on Ancestry.  Do you have more information? 

Also were the McKennas all related in that general area?
