Seeking help to locate the parish of origin of my great-grandfather, Owen Drury (1832-1876) son of James Drury and Catherine Brennan. Owen married Mary Tansey, daughter of Patrick Tansey and Honora Ann Connaughton in Montreal, Canada in 1854. It is thought that the families migrated together around 1847 and were possibly from the area around Croghan and Ballinanmeen.

Hi Bready, I had a look at some records to no avail, looking at the Registers site it appears me that your estimate of Ballinanmeen may be correct at looking at the available parish records that parish has very few while Croghan listed as Kilucan has records that would take it the relevant period as indeed has the adjoining parishes of Elphin and Boyle have also, I am assuming they are RC, if Church of Ireland about 40% plus of their records were lost in the Civil War. You can see the various RC parishes here with available records, there may be some not listed but very few.
Incidently I came across a Tanzy / Connaughton in 1840, too late to be yours, assume the Tanzy is incorrectly transcribed, it is a Patrick and an Anne in Boyle, witnesses were Margaret McGowan and Dominic Commons, stipend was £1 -10 shillings, odd the priest recorded it and to me it appears to be a substantial amount for the time.
I have ancestry in nearby counties and most of them have active Facebook genealogy pages that may interest you, apply to join and away you go, I have always found them well moderated, good manners a must so no chance of being offended etc.
Good Luck
