Hello Lyle,
I hope this email finds you well. A great place to check, if you haven't already is the birth, death and marriage records database see: https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/. While compulsory registration was in not enforced until 1864, you may be able to trace descendants through this site via the address and family name. Also, you can search the 1901 and 1911 census here: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/ by the family name and address. Additionally, baptismal records can be traced here: https://registers.nli.ie/. The Local Studies department at Carlow County Library is also a place of rich sources, though some can only be consulted in person such as the archive of the local newspapers that may also be of insight to you! see: http://www.carlowlibraries.ie/explore/local-studies.
I hope this information helps, or at least points you in the right direction. Feel free to get in touch should you need further assistance.
All the best,
Judy
