I’m searching for family connections of Edward BYRNE son of Edward ‘Ned’ BYRNE an engineer and Honor UNKNOWN.

Edward was baptised 17 May 1828  Dun Laoghaire, St. Michael's, Kingstown / Kingstown Cross Roads, Dublin, Ireland

Possible siblings:

John b 1818

Catty b 1820

Hugh b 1822

Hugh b 1831 twin

Mary b 1831 twin

Jane b 1834

Edward BYRNE married 31 Oct 1861 in Liverpool, Lancashire to Mary MCKENNA  born about 1835 in Dundalk, Louth, Ireland.  Her father was John, a plasterer.  Mary's mothers name may be Bridget. Cheapside, Liverpool was given as their place of residence.

Edward & Mary BYRNE emigrated from London on 15 May 1862 on the "Young Australia" and arrived in Brisbane, Australia on 9 Aug 1862.

The 1861 Liverpool census was taken in April 1861 – no evidence of Edward BYRNE or Mary MCKENNA.

It is evident Edward BYRNE ties to Dalkey continued from Australia as he left a legacy of 99 pounds to Father D. Deasey of Dalkey.

  • My grandmother was born and raised in Louth her name was Mary Elizabeth Sheridan. She ended up marrying my grandfathe Joseph Walsh and lived in Dublin. He worked for the Dublin Corporation. There are folks in our  family on my grandmothers side that are called Byne. I'm not sure if I am related to you or not. I will be back in Ireland to live on January 20 and I will keep in touch you if you want as I have old papers on the family and pictures. Good luck Mary
