I'm looking for connections to this family. A John or Phillip O'Loane emigrated to Quebec in the 1820s. His wife is believed to have been Ellen Duffy and children Barney/Bernard, James, Mary (b. about 1821), Rose and Jane. We think some children were born in Antrim, including Mary while maybe Rose and Jane were born in Quebec. Philip (John?) was said to have run a "public house" in Quebec. They later moved to the Elora, Ontario area.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I did find a baptism for Bernard O'Lone in 1829 with no parents names included, so it's hard to rely on it. It is in Glenravel which is near Ballymena but after when we *thought* the family had emigrated.

  • O’Loan (etc) is a common name around Ballymena. I assume the family was RC. The problem you face is that hardly any parishes in that area have records for the period you need. (eg Ballymena – the parish is Kirkinriola - has none before 1848). It’s pretty well impossible to trace families from that era.
