According to my great great aunt, both my great great grandfather and my great great great grandfather married girls from Coughertown, Meath. Does anyone know which Parish I should (or could) be looking in for Mary Magrane (marrying Mat Magrath) or Mary (?) Reynolds marying John Magrath in 1820 and 1800 (ish) respectively?

The spelling of the townland is Clogherstown in Clonalvy civil parish. The RC parish would be Ardcath.

I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and was unable to locate a marriage record for either couple even though the Ardcath records go back to 1795. I searched for baptismal records for children of Mathew McGrath and Mary Magrane and found one record in Ardcath.

Peter McGrath baptized October 1839 parents Mathew McGrath and Magrane

also searched for baptismal records for children of John Magrath and Mary Reynolds and the only record that came up was in 1880 in Rathmolyon RC parish. Based on your message you indicated that the parents were married around 1800.

I also looked at the 1853 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Co. Mayo and there was a Matthew and Patrick McGrath in Tankardstown townland in Clonalvy civil parish

The 1833 Tithe listings for Clonalvy civil parish and there were records for a John and Mathew Magrath in Tankardstown townland and a John Magrath in Clogherstown.
