Im researching my 4X GGrandfather Denis O'Grady/Grady 1786, transported to Aus 1831 for Robbery of James Ravel at the Clondegal Bridge 1831.

He married Mary McMahon b1795 in County Clare. She emigrated to Aus 1855 with her childrenon the "Bermondsey".

Her son John O'Grady b1829 Clondegal (m Alice Moy 1839-1921) is my Paternal 3X GGrandfather and her daughter, Bridget B1828 Ballynacally, (m Matthew Smith 1835-1925) is my Maternal  3XGGrandmother.

Does anyone have connections to these families, please?

  • I have Moys in my line and some are named Alice. My closest ancestor is Patrick Moy, b. 1804 in Donegal. According to my records, he married Cecily Carlan (or Carlin) and they had 11 children. Among them was my 2nd great-grandmother, Bridget who was Alice Moy's sister.

I show most of your line except for your Bridget. I have John as an only child, although my information may be incomplete.

I don't know if I can help, but feel free to ask.

  • Hi Bern:

Would you consider creating an Ancestor profile for these ancestors as the information that you have shared might resonate with another descendant of this family. You can create an Ancestor profile by going to the XOChronicles tab at the top of the page, and clicking into it.  If you have any problems, please let me know at:  jhalloranryan@irelandxo.com.

    All the best,
