Patrick is my G Grandfather who married Anne Lynch C 1860 (unable to locate record).
They lived in the townland of Knockaraheen and had 9 children.
Of these 3 came to Australia in early 1880's ( Bridget, Anne & John - my grandfather).
On Roots Ireland I came accross a marriage of Mathew Tuite to Bridget Roe 02FEB1816 and a baptism of a son Patrick
17DEC1816 (address Lurganboy) Other children baptisms show address as Lurganboy and Knockaraheen.
Taking Patrick's age on death record 1900 back it is 1816.
I have been unable to prove that Mathew is Patrick's father.
Hoping to find proof of this connection and any other information of these Tuite's
There is also a connection to the Malone's of Lurganboy.
PS: My Patrick is not to be confused with the other Patrick Tuite of Knockaraheen who married Anne Reilly.

What was the name of Patrick's eldest son? Was it Mathew? According to Irish naming patterns of the time, the eldest son was USUALLY named after the paternal grandfather.

Hello Patricia
Patrick's eldest son was Mathew.
My caution was that Patrick would have been 44 at birth of Mathew in C1860 and 62 at the birth of his last child Patrick in 1877.

Hi, Later marriage and thus fatherhood was not unusual. If Mathew Sr. was the eldest son, he may not have had the means to support a wife and family until his elderly parents died and he inherited the property.Patricia

Thanks for that information.
