Hello,
I am trying to find information about my great grandparents, Frank Ryan and Mary Agnes White.
Frank real name was Matthew Francis.
As far as I know, they came to America separately, met here, and married in Atlantic City.
I'm not sure where Frank was from, but Mary was from Blackrock, Louth County, I have her years as 1873 to 1932. She moved to the United States around 1890.
I am also interested in the Stanley family of Blackrock. It seems they were related in some way.
Thank you.
Bob

Bob, there are no Mary Whites born in 1873 in the civil record to suit and there are 19 registered in Dundalk (registration area) from 1864 start to 1879, I see one with an address in Haggardstown which should be near or include Blackrock, I attach the extract from Irish Genealogy civil records, free site but sign in, the lack of an Agnes is not unusual as the 2nd name often was not registered or transcribed and if we look at the baptism we may see it, the mothers name appears to be Hughes. https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/ Civil records only of use to you as church records incomplete.
Frank Ryan may be tricky as most Ryans are from the Tipperary area and it is common unless you have detailed information, are the names of the father or mother given on marriage or death certs.
I will post some more Louth info later and look for the Ryan birth but as i say no promises on that one.

Pat,
Thank you for responding so quickly.
On Frank Ryan's Death Certificate, his father's name is Frank Matthew Ryan, and his mother's name is given as Mary White, which is his wife's name. So, I don't know his mother's name, and can guess that his father's might be the same as his.
Thanks for the info on Mary White. I'll give that website a try.

Hi Bob, got engrossed in the news last night but done some searching, the Mary Wiite I gave you appears the most likely, checked Roots Ireland and found a few more in Louth but not near Blackrock, see on the Registers site that that Haggardstown is another name for Blackrock parish, you can see the baptism entry here https://registers.nli.ie/ She has a number of siblings on Roots Ireland, some address is given as Dublin Road, Haggardstown, if it is the same Dublin Road as now it is a mile or so from Blackrock Village you can see new and old maps here https://www.osi.ie/ There were a number of siblings, born from 1863 to 1876.
In 1854 you can see a number of White families living in Haggardstown, you can manipulate the map icon to find the plot, tricky but doable. http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
There are a number of Ryan families in Louth at this time also, the two nearest are in Dromiskin parish, did not really find a birth of a Frank or Matthew to suit though.
There is an interesting site on Louth here, you may find some grave references and if you do let me know as I have hard copy of a lot of them but do not think there is one on Blackrock, the Whites were tenants of Lord Clermont in Griffiths Valuation. http://www.jbhall.clahs.ie/
There are one or two old pictures of Blackrock in the National Library site, check digital photos and Louth or Blackrock, Louth, there are at least 2 other Blackrocks in Ireland. https://www.nli.ie/digital-photographs.aspx
There are some Louth Genealogy Facebook pages and old photos etc if interested too.
Found a lot of Matthew Ryan births and a few Frank but none jumped out in like she married a neighbours child, of course at this point travel was much easier, trains everywhere.
I live about 20 miles from Blackrock so if anything comes to mind please revert but we are locked down for at least 4 weeks and maybe 6.

I know that the Whites live in Rose Cottage, Sandy Lane, Blackrock. I've found the place on Google Maps. Thomas White was the last one I know of that lived there, but he has died I think and the place was sold off.
Mary had four brothers that I know: Patrick, Peter, James, and Thomas.
I know of a Mary White, who was a brother's dauther of Mary Agnes White, who lived in Philadelphia for a while. I think she moved back to Ireland. She died recently I think.
I don't know how Stanley fits in here, but Mary Stanley was my grandmother's cousin.

Bob we may be on the wrong track but see no other, the siblings I see are not the ones you mention, I see the following Anne 1870; Mary 1871; Isabella 1873; James 1865; Margaret 1876; Michael 1863; these are children born 1860 to 1880 to Thomas White and Mary Hughes in Haggardstown, I can find not marriage back to 1853 to 1867, however I see one in Haggardstown of Thomas White and a Mary Richardson in 1865; see the following children who should be on the civil register for Dundalk on Irish Genealogy; Mary Anne White Commons, Haggardstown 1866; Magaret 1881; Peter 1868, again Commons; Michael 1879; Margaret, Commons 1870, this child must have died as there is another one, again the death should be on Irish Genealogy; Patrick 1872, Commons; James 1875; this appears a better bet as Mary Ann may be Mary Agnes if you check, just out of interest, my sister was Winifred which is I believe Agnes and in Gaelic is Una.
I see the death cert for poor Margaret age 3 1/2 address is Blackrock and father is a fisherman, ring any bells.
Mary Anne is baptised Mary Anne and registered as Mary October 1866; can see on the parish register on Registers NLI, this register for Haggardstown goes back to 1852 which is really early by Irish standards.
Does this sound better, the commons would indicate land in the village to me.
