Thank you so much for sharing this with me "cousin" ;).  I just saw the reply, the 'message notice' didn't work for some reason.  Rory born in 1590 was the oldest one I had on my tree on ancestry... but yes, gets so hard to confirm sometimes when the records get older if the family was not royalty.  

Hello Jen I was interested in your message about the McGuire family as I have McGuire connections for some reason, coming from Co. Fermanagh.

I just checked my ancestry dna matches for the surname McElligott  and BINGO! The first cousin that popped up has exactly the same couple :James Felix McGuire, Lieitenant, born 1734 married to Margaret Elizabeth Black in 1755, who emigrated to Virginia, USA. He died in Maddison, Kentucky in 1782. Constantine is his father, from Co. Fermanagh, whose wife is Julia McElligott also from Co. Fermanagh. McElligott  is the surname I originally put in as a test, because I was confident  that no matches would come up. Obviously I was wrong. The DNA match is a low cM but that would make sense as this is going back to 1661/1663. The McGuires were Chiefs of Fermanagh of course.

Oh, my dna match is from the American line.

I find this fascinating as the McGuire name keeps cropping up regularly in my DNA matches and this confirms I definately have the McGuire roots somewhere in my background.
