I am seeking information on James Whitely, birth circa 1823 at Whitehall. Following service in the British Army he migrated to York in Western Australia in 1851 and served in the Enrolled Pensioner Force (guarding convicts). His wife was Johanna Welch, or Walsh.

Looking into Mr. James Whitely for you: Perhaps you already saw this from the Internet. I tried to find a record of the Baptism of James and in doing so came accross the record of a Martin Whitly baptised in the same parish (Paulstown) in 1845. I could find nothing when I changed the surname of James to Whitly. You have a lot of info on his family in Australia. Ancestry.com may have info that would lead back to something in Ireland.
Sorry I cannot be of further assistance. If I find anything further I will get back to you.
