I am trying to trace my husband's ancestors. His family lives in the Tallow area. His grandfather was Andrew Hickey born 1873 who married Johanna (Hanna) Hayes on 6 Aug 1918 in Ballyduff, Lismore. Both are buried in the graveyard of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Tallow. Andrew's parents were Andrew Hickey and Hanora Brien. There are two Andrew Hickeys, one born in 1821 and one in 1823, in the Tallow parish register. Is there any way to find out if either of these Andrews was the one married to Hanora Brien?

I would be inclined to believe the 1823 Andrew Hichey is the father of the Andrew born in 1873.
The 1821 Andrew had father John while 1823 Andrew had father Peter.
The oldest son of Andrew Hickey and Hanora Brien was Peter born in 1861.
Although you can't trust the Irish naming patterns all the time, in this case I'm confident that the 1823 record is correct.
