This is my first posting of a message for a new Irish researcher. I have been searching for the parents and siblings of a Lucinda Trimble who was born about 1785 in Clogher, Tyrone. Lucinda married a William Breadon in the same Clogher Diocese in 1825 and she passes away on November 21, 1879 in Ballyard, Kilskerry, Tyrone [reg. district of Irvinestown] and the marriage certificate indicates her father's name was "William". Lucinda had seven (7) children and maybe more. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to locate any of her siblings and/or her mother's name. Any suggestions in my search would be most appreciative. Regards, Linda.

Linda,
Tradition was normally to marry in the bride’s church. In this case Clogher. I assume the family was Church of Ireland. Clogher Cathedral has baptism records from 1763, marriages from 1777 (with some gaps) and burials from 1783. If you have searched them, then it’s possible she wasn’t from that parish. If so, you would need to have some idea of where she originated and search there, if any records exist. (Not many parishes have records for the 1700s or early 1800s). Trimble is a name commonly found in the Fermanagh & Tyrone area and in the 1700s people didn’t travel very far but if you can’t find a baptism in Clogher then it’s possible she was born in a neighbouring parish.
One other point is that if she was born in 1785 and married in 1825, she was 40. Very old by Irish standards, unless she was a widow. Perhaps this was a second marriage and Trimble wasn’t her maiden name? You say she had 7 children, and maybe more, after marrying at 40. That would be quite surprising in my experience. Are you by any chance calculating her year of birth from her death certificate? If so, I wouldn’t place too much reliance on it. Most people in the 1800s had no idea how old they were and ages were just guessed. For someone in their 70s an error of 10 years or more is very common. In my opinion, if you have found a marriage in 1825, and it’s Lucinda’s first marriage, she was probably aged around 22. Born around 1800-1807 perhaps. If you haven’t already done so, I would check Clogher baptisms for those years.
