Hi,
I am trying to find the baptism of my ancestor, John McMURDY in Loughgall, Armagh. I believe it was in 1839. His parents were Joseph McMURDY and Mary SMITH. A sibling William b1833 Legrange, Armagh.
He came to Australia in 1861, married Mary ACHESON in 1863 (Wesleyan service) and died in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia in 1906. The burial was Church of England.
I have checked the major companies but cannot find anything conclusive.
Many thanks for any ideas of where to look.

Loughgall Church of Ireland records start in 1706. There are some gaps eg no baptisms 1821 to 1829. There’s a copy in PRONI. The local Methodist church in Loughgall has baptisms from 1815. They are not on-line anywhere and are held by the Methodist church in Armagh. So you would need to write to the mInister to search them (They have no marriages at they’d still have been using the Church of Ireland for those). The only McMurdys in Armagh in the 1901 census were all Presbyterian. Loughgall Presbyterian’s marriages start in 1819, but baptisms don’t start till 1842. (Copy in PRONI).
