Hello,I'm tracing my grandfather's family,on my mothers side, his name was James Mackey, which was also his father and grandfathers name,my great grandfather died at the age of 46 from yellow fever,my grandfather didn't have very much information on the family,we do know that our ancestors came through Ellis Island,New York, but we can't trace what part of Ireland the departed from,I have a lot of irish friends, that suggested I start in Ballymackey/Tipperary,we do know for certain that they came from Ireland, any suggestions or help, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Bob:
Can you provide the approximate year when James Mackey the great-grandfather was born? The RC parish for the civil parish of Ballymackey would be Toomevara.

I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not find a James Mackey baptismal record with father James in that parish. There are James Mackey baptismal reocrds with father James in other parishes but we need an approximate year of birth. Having a mothers name would be very helpful.
FYI. I reported the spam comment to our tech team.
