I am researching Winifred Kearns/Kerins, from County Sligo. She was born about 1825 in County Sligo, according to the 1851 Census for Scotland. She married Francis Layden from Glackaundarragh, Inishmagrath parish about 1843, and they emigrated to Scotland with their daughter Mary around 1847.
According to one of their children’s Scottish birth certificates, Francis and Winifred were married in May 1843 in “Susie Ireland”. The only townland I can see in Ireland which sounds like that is Sooey, where the church of the old Ballynakill Catholic parish is. So I think Winifred probably lived in one of the townlands in Ballynakill parish.
Unfortunately, the records for Sooey church before it merged with Riverstown parish don’t seem to have survived.

Hello,
Inishmagrath parish, as you probably know, is in Co. Leitrim. The 1851 Scottish census says Francis was born in Leitrim, while Winifred and their eldest child were born in Sligo.
The 1861 census calls Francis's wife "Ann." Is this an error? Did Winifred go by this name? Or had WInifred died and Francis remarried?
ScotlandsPeople website has excellent records for Scotland.
I hope this helps.Patricia
