There were two sets ( at least) of Devereux's that settled in Utica, New York. The wealthy and well known led by John C. Devereux and the poor, which are my ancestors. I've never connected the two families. Looking for information or descendants from Patrick and Ellen Sinnott Devereux. They emigrated and settled in Utica, New York circa 1864. Patrick had a brother Michael who married a Bridget Condon, and also settled in Utica, NY. Ellen's parents were Michael and Anna Vardy Sinnott. Not entirely certain on Patrick's parents? I believe they may have been James Devereux and Judith Kelly Devereux? Patrick was born in 1839 and died in Utica, NY on May 20, 1877 in Utica, NY.

Thank you Patricia. The mysteries continue. My Patrick Devereux wasn't born until circa 1839. He actually emigrated in 1868, and I now remember that he married Ellen Sinnott here in Utica, NY. She had emigrated with her parents Michael & Anna Vardy Sinnott, prior to 1868. Now I have to figure out how there were two different Patrick Devereux's and two different Ellen Sinnott's that married and had children in successive generations.I suppose in Wexford though, that those two surnames are fairly common? The mysteries continue. Your time and effort is greatly appreciated.
