Hello all
I'm researching my family tree and discovered my Great Grandmother Kate Brennan gives her address as Our Lady's Island when she got married to my Great Grandfather James Culkin. They married at the "Star of the sea" RC Church in 18/08/19. James was in the RIC (stationed in Cavan) and Kate was a national school teacher. Kates father was a James Brennan. Despite all this information and looking at the census records 1901 & 1911 I haven't been able to find Kates family in Wexford. According to the RIC records Kate was from Wexford. Any help would be gratefully accepted.
Kind Regards
Eddie Culkin

Eddie:
As you experienced, this is tough case.
Do you happen to know how old Kate was in 1919?
Ladysisland is a civil parish in southeast Co. Wexford.
I looked at the census records in the area and located this 1911 census record http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Wexford/Lady_s_Island/…; No Catherine or Kate shown but the parents had eight children and James was a tailor which could be construed as a shopkeeper.
I did find this 1881 birth record see fourth record https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_retur…
If Kate was 38 in 1919, I think this is the family.

Eddie,
You have probably seen that a Margaret Culkin was born in 1920 to James and Catherine, in Cavan. If not, the baptism transcription is on rootsireland and the birth register should be on irishgenealogy.ie.
I hope this helps.

Hello Roger
Thank you for the leads on possible/probable family for Kate Brennan. You helped me on the Castleconor, Sligo (Culkin) side of the family too. Kate and James Culkin settled in Enniskillen Fermanagh so I'm going to look up Northern Ireland death records to determine Kates birth year.
Thanks again

Hello Patricia
Thank you so much for the census information and the national school register with Kate Brennan listed as working in New Ross in 1905. My father thought that she was from New Ross but had no other details or documentary proof. As I said in the comment to Roger I'm going to check Northern Ireland death records to determine Kates birth year. Could you please tell me the source or provide a link to the national schools register. I would like to know what years it is available for, I could maybe check it for the years Kate was teaching.
Thanks again
