I am looking for a John Clark and Alice Padden who married and emigrated to the US from Co Mayo.I'm guessing this would have been prior to 1850. John died in Maryland and Alice went on to her family in Erin Prairie. Wisconsin.There were two daughters, Annie and Mary.

Any information would be welcome.

    Finding church records in Co. Mayo prior to 1850 is difficult. (Civil registration did not begin until 1864). I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not locate a marriage record or baptismal records for their children.

    Have you considered DNA testing? Possibly you will have matches with people who have more information on your Clark and Padden lines.

  • Roger, thank you for your response. I have done DNA testing and am making my way through the matches. I have lots of matches, some better than others, and  I am educating myself.
