I am researching my grandmother's family, the Foye's in and around Sligo. Her grandfather was Michael Foye 1845-1910 and grandmother, Bridget Armstrong 1851-1929. Michael's father is known to be James Michael Foye 1812-1897 but while it believed his mother was Bridget Berian, I can find nothing of her or a marriage reference that was to have been in 1876. My gr-grandmother Rose Ann, was their first child, born in 1877. Would anyone happen to have access to a source that could locate this marriage? I am most grateful for any assistance. Thank you, Colleen O'Gorman

Hi Colleen!
See fourth record https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_re…; Beesy was a variant of Bridget.

Hello Roger, Nice to hear from you and have your assistance. I could not open that link. I use the site often. After re-reading my message, clearly it was not clear. I am looking for any document pertaining to the marriage of James and his Bridget. They would have been Michael's parents. I hope you have some luck finding something for me. Thank you, Colleen

Colleen:
Yes, I was confused, thought you needed the 1876 marriage record.
I searched on Roots Ireland and the earliest James Foy(e) marriage record in Co. Sligo was in 1892. Sorry!

Thanks Roger, Any other records that might identify James Foye 1812-1897? I believe his father's name was Michael. We are getting pretty far back, so I understand there not being anything available. Your help is always appreciated. Colleen

Colleen:
The tithe listings from the 1820/1830s has three Foy records in Achonry parish including a Michael.

The 1858 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing has James Foye in Tawnavoultry.
