Dia dhaoibh,
I’m trying to find out more about my ancestor Julia Savage, who came to Aotearoa, New Zealand in December 1875. She is listed on the ship’s log as being from Co. Kerry and aged 20.
She seems to have told a few stories to her children – which were probably more fanciful than anything. But perhaps there was some truth behind her saying she was from Tralee, or thereabouts, and possibly raised by an uncle after being orphaned at a young age?
I have found two possible Julias born within the 1854-1855 time frame. One was from Curragrague to parents Patrick Savage and Bridget Brosnihan. The other was from Ardcanught to James Savage and Margaret Foulue/Foley.
I’m keen to track down any further information such as existing family trees for Savage families in Kerry in the mid-1800s to either confirm or discount what we have found so far!
Any information would be gratefully received. My email is flickwolfe@yahoo.co.nz.

FlickWolfe:
A DNA test may be helpful. You may have matches with others who have either Savage, Brosnihan or Foley ancestors. By comparing notes you may be able to confirm one of the two records you listed above.
