I have reached a dead end with my Farley relatives.
From census materials, I know that Thomas (b about 1820) ( gt gt grandfather), his brother Andrew (b about 1829) and sister Roseanne, (b about 1826) all married and lived in Liverpool. On their wedding records, their father is listed as James Bartholemew/ James and they are from Co. Cavan. James is listed as a cattle dealer.
The family story is that they came over to Liverpool on a cattle boat, which could explain why I can find no records?
I would love to find out more about James. Who was he married to? Where exactly where the family are from? I would like to visit, and take the family tree further back, but I need a starting place.
I am still in Liverpool, so have not travelled further than where my ancestors landed!
I would really appreciate and help.

I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not find any baptismal records in the 1820s for the the three children listed using a father named James. Some Co. Cavan RC parishes have records back to the 1820s but many parishes do not. It appears your Farleys were baptized in a parish that no longer has records back to the 1820s.
The 1855 Griffiths Valuation for Co. Cavan had two James Farley records
James Farley Castlepoles townland Killashandra civil parish
James Farley Bellananagh townland Kilmore civil parish
NOTE both RC parishes Killashandra and Kilmore have records starting later than the 1820s
The question is whether your James Farley Sr. was living in 1855 and leasing land. Did the marriage records show alive or deceased?
In any event, you have two possible leads on where your Farleys came from
Have you considered DNA testing?
