He was born in Ballyclough around 1775. DNA shows a direct Y line to him however haven't been able to find any male offspring that either emigrated to US or served in the US. Only documented male offspring was from Redmond Barry in Australia and he is not our direct ancestor.
Has anyone any family stories of one of Henry's sons having a son out of wedlock?
Thank you....really trying to find out who my paternal grandfather was.

Hi Rkaucla, you say Y,DNA shows direct line back to him.
Found him on Wiki Tree, just as you wrote.
It says he died in 1838 in Bllyclough House Co Cork. goes on to say he retired in 1824 with the rank of Major General He went on to become High sheriff of Co Cork.
It should be possible to find Obituary for him on The Freemans Journal, it would give list of relatives.
With regard to finding relatives via DNA, not a lot of people have Y,DNA done, have you tried Autosumnal DNA as well its very popular, and finds relatives. for those who are interested.
Let me know what you think, and if you have any questions
Best of luck.

Thanks for your note. I am female so it's actually my brother's Y DNA that shows the direct line. I have done the autosomal and yes, we have found some connections however we're just at a roadblock as to who the male offspring of Henry Green Barry's sons (there were 5 of them). My autosomal shows the link the Phoebe Drought (the wife of Henry Green Barry).
Based on your suggestion I will check the Freemans Journal, We do belong to the Barry Project on FTDNA and they have been extremely helpful in assisting me...just no luck yet establishing the male offspring. We do know that Redmond Barry (emigrated to Australia) had a son however our DNA shows Redmond is not the direct ancestor. It was one of his brothers.
Thank you again. Hoping that something pops up soon.
