Hi, in the tithes, Nereney is listed as a townland in Nurney. Is it possible that Nereney got renamed as Blackditch and/or Kildoon by 1840/50s?
Looking at NLI register for Monasterevin, Kildoon is listed on births in 1820s, though Blackditch never ever seems to come up. My ancestor James Nolan is in one of the only two houses in Blackditch in 1840. In Griffiths, his son John "rents" the Blackditch house, while living next door in his Kildoon house (on the Griffiths maps, these houses back on to each other).
John Nolan married Jane Byrne and their address varies between Blackditch and Kildoon. I cannot find their marriage sometime in 1850s so cannot verify if Jane was from Kildoon, though her name appears as a sponsor on various baptisms etc of children of an Edward Byrne, a blacksmith in Kildoon, and vice versa. So Jane and Edward could be siblings.
Via NLI, I can see various other Byrnes in Kildoon having children in 1820s, including a John Byrne who appears on the Nereney tithes.
Any suggestions gratefully accepted please.
Thank you.
