Hi there,
James was born in Monaghan, according to the census. There was a Bernard Coleman who died in 1882 in the townland of Tullyvanus:

In this townland in the 1901 and 1911 cenus there is still Colemans, who possibly are James siblings as they are similar ages. They have a Rosina Campbell, who was their cousin and born in Belfast living with them in both census years.

1911: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Monaghan/Church_Hill/T…
I don't know if this info will be any help but hopefully it is. Best of luck with your search!
