I am researching my GGGrandmother Margaret Heffern/Heffernan married in England 1854 age 20 to Michael Clancy. Both were from Ireland.
Margaret's father is Michael, farmer, according to marriage records. She would have been born around 1834.
I have DNA matches that connect me to a group of cousins that link back to a Margaret Heffernan, c 1811, possibly from Cork.I have 5 DNA matches in total that link to Margaret who immigrated to Canada and then the US. Their daughter Johanna was born approx 1836 in Ireland. Marriage records have been assigned by others as approx 1835. It could be earlier.
Margaret Heffernan/Brown then married Jeremiah McCarthy in Peterborugh area of Ontario Canada in 1847. Jeremiah was also married before and had a son named Garret McCarthy. Margaret had children by both husbands. My DNA matches descend from both the Brown and McCarthy line so that tells me Margaret Heffernan is a common ancestor for me.
I am thinking Margaret Heffernan/Brown/McCarthy may be Michael Heffernan's sister. Other family trees show Margaret's birth as Jan 11 1811, Cork but they haven't provided any documentation to for proof.
If anyone has any knowledge of these families, would love to hear from you.

I looked at two sites that have Co. Cork church records (civil registration started in 1864). The first site is www.irishgenealogy.ie and this site is free and covers the parishes in the Diocese of Cork and Ross. There was only one Margaret Heffernan baptismal record on this ste in 1834 but the father was David.
The other site is the subscription site Roots Ireland which has the church records for the Diocese of Cloyne which basically covers the north and east of the county. There were many Heffernan records on this site but the only Margaret Heffernan records with father Michael were in 1824 and 1840 which appear to be different Margaret Heffernans since we are looking for an 1834 or so record.
I also looked for a Johanna Browne record with a Margaret Heffernan as the mother but no record came up. I assume the father was a Browne based on your later comment about the second marriage.
If you have additional information, let me know.

If you search Margaret in the UK censuses, you might find her birth place in Ireland specified.

The census records only say Ireland, they don't say what part of Ireland.
Also, I just read a letter that was written by a descendant of Johanna Brown and in the letter, it says her father's name was William, although the person that sent the letter is showing in her tree, the father's name as Michael. I've asked this person to check that for me. In addition, it says Johanna Brown was born 1837 in New Castall, Ireland. The spelling is probably wrong but there are a few Newcastle's and I'm not sure whether or not this is in Cork. I might even be in the wrong county. :(

You may have done this...did you trace JOHANNA in the UK censuses and other records to see what they say about her place of birth in Ireland?
Also newspaper obits, cemetery records, headstones, wills? Just a few ideas for you.
