Michael Hynes 1879-1955 was born in Kilrush to John Hynes and Honor Shannon  who married on 2 February 1861.

We know Michael came to Australia some time before 1908 as he married in Brisbane to Bridget Sullivan on 8 January 1908. 

Michael died on 2 May 1955 in Brisbane. His Australian death certificate states he was born in Kilrush, Clare, Ireland and had been in Australia over 50 years. That puts an arrival date around 1900-1907.

I have checked the Queensland records and cannot find his arrival. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

    This is his Baptism see below.
    He was in trouble and had 7 days in Prison in 1894.
    Are the Queensland records from your TROVE site?  I cannot get this site.

    I have attached John Hynes death, these give details of who was present at the death.
    Then the 1901 Census, Michael was still there in April 1901.
    I have attached Honnor Hynes death.
    The only way you may get the information is on Worldwide searching site.

  • HI Margot, thanks so much for those links. Yes Michael's sister was brother to my great grandmother. The details I have in Australia are from the BDM Queensland site.I am surprised you cannot access TROVE as it is a freely available site.Here is the URL https://trove.nla.gov.au 

    Irelandxo is a very usefu site thanks to all the people who maintain it.
