Ideas to find Waterson?

I assume that John Waterson was Church of Ireland?  The surname Waterson in the mid-19th century was primarily found in one of the Northern Ireland counties.

I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland but did not locate a marriage record. Civil registration of non-Roman Catholic marriages started in 1845 after John and Susan left Ireland.

Church of Ireland parish records could be held locally or possibly in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin but at this time there is no searchable data base for thos records. Also many Church of Ireland parish records were destroyed in the 1922 fire at the Public Record Ofice fire in Dublin.

I would suggest that you consider an autosomal DNA test which identifies matches on both your maternal and paternal lines. You are also eligible to take a Y-DNA DNA test which tracks your pure Waterson paternal line. From my own experience, I would recommend not taking the Y-DNA test initally since that test will go back 250-300 years and you won't get matches where you might have second and third cousins identified.
