I belong to the Quirke Ancestry and DNA Facebook group found at  https://www.facebook.com/groups/288533261658106     Please consider joining our group. I will tell the group about your post and we will be watching your progress.  

My Quirkes lived in Tullamain, Tipp before 1864. 1864 was the year that their two sons Edmund and Thomas in America paid 10 pounds steriling to have a tombstone put over their parents' graves. They were buried at the long time family cemetery in Railstown much nearer to Cashel than Tullamain is.  

When there were obits in US newspapers with their birth locality my 2X Gr GF Thomas Quirk and his Lonergan nephews listed "from Cashel". 

"Ireland Reaching Out" volunteers found that burial location when we had neither the name of the deceased nor the name of the cemetery. Luckily their names Edmond Quirke of Galveston and Thomas Quirke of Wisconcin (sic) were carved into the "tomb" as it was called in an 1864 letter.

Hi Sandra, Mary and Margot,   I found four  Michael Quirkes in the Catholic parish of Clonoulty and Rossmore, Barony Kilnamanagh Lower,  Tipperary South Riding, in Griffiths Valuation two in townland of Cloneyharp, and two in Turraheen Upper. www.askaboutireland.ie.

They were still in Cloneyharp in the 1901 census  in Cloneyharp and  Clonuulty Church Quarter,  www.census.nationalarchives.ie.  Also I see a headstone in the graveyard in Clonoulty  no 298.

Hello again All, 

Since the surname Fanning was mentioned I want you to know of the Kathleen Fanning website which is a fantastic Tipperary resource. I let Kathleen know of this post. She asked that I share a link to her Fanning site. I picked the one that goes into the research done by the late Rev. Walter Skehan in his Vol 43.https://fanningfamilyhistory.com/index.php/2014/08/27/walter-skehan-pap…; But please look over the entire Fanning site to see how it might help you in your research. 

I was told that the original Skehan document is held by the Thurles library. The Irish Genealogy Projects, IGP, has also posted a link to the Skehan document at  http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ire/tipperary/famhist/Rev-Skehans-pa…; I had found cousins of my 2XGrGF in Skehan. I put that Quirke line on an Ancestry tree and found family in Australia. The patriarch who sent me his handwritten copy of the same family tree was actually listed on Skehan. He DNA tested and matched me in the 4-6th cousin range at Ancestry. He was my true 5th cousin. Skehan is a gold mine for those with family listed in it. Please also look over the IGP Archives.

Hi Sandra, I too am trying to find  my Quirk family line. My Quirks were not far from Clonaulty, in Mullinahone and Minauns (abt 40 mins). Thomas my GGrandfather came to Australia in 1855 lived in Mooroopna Victoria. His parents were Nicholas 1812 -? and Ellen Phelan 1812-1882. They had 7 children Mary, James , Thomas, Ellen, Nicholas and Micheal.
