I am looking for information on my Cull forebears, whom I believe came from Clonallan. There were 6 siblings, Roger (1809), Roseann (1811), Charles (1812), Daniel (1814), Margaret (1816), and John (1822). Their mother, Catherine McNulty, was widowed in the 1820s or 1830s and they immigrated to Chillicothe, Ohio in the 1830s. Roseann married Edward Carville a few months after arriving in Ohio. Edward's father was Morris/Maurice Carville. I believe the Carvilles were also from Clonallan, specifically Clontifleece. Unfortunately, baptismal records in Clionallan didn't start until 1825, although I believe my ancestors appear as witnesses at weddings and baptisms in the parish. (see attached). Daniel was a seminarian in Ireland and was later ordained in Bardstown, Kentucky, He worked in the Diocese of Albany, NY(Saratoga Springs). His nephew, Patrick Bernard McNulty (1823) was also a Catholic priest, He emigrated around 1848. Any information about them in Ireland would be appreciated.

The tithe applotment records for 1834 list 5 Cull farms in Clonallan, including one in Clontifleece as well as some Carvills.

I had a look at the British Newspapers Archive to see if there are any relevant mentions of your families in the early 1800s but did not see anything relevant.
There aren’t many records for this period in Ireland as you have probably discovered. Research for this period can be hard going.

Thanks for your help! I will take a look at those sites. I think I may have to go to PRONI someday and search the tenant records of the Hall family, who held most of the land in southern County Down.
